Recently I created a new version of my personal website.
This is how my website used to look. I got a lot of good feedback on the somewhat unique idea of building a Windows 95 style UI. It seemed intuitive enough for people to use, but linking and SEO weren't optimal.
As LLMs got better, it became easy to build this kind of Windows 95 website. The novelty wore off once anyone could put one together in a few hours, and that ate away at the value.
I wanted to update the site to be more intuitive and to create value by adding more unique content.
The main sections are "about" (my CV), "notes" (blog), "projects", and "hobbies", which covers my various interests.
The main value of a personal website, in my opinion, is making myself more familiar to other people. It's much easier to sell when someone feels like they already know you. I also believe in building in public. Putting my work in front of others keeps me accountable.
