I got this watch when I graduated from high school. I randomly stumbled to this watch online as I was looking for my first vintage watch.
I was really into the United States at the time and wanted to move to Silicon Valley as soon as I graduated. The flag on the dial got my attention right away. It kind of felt too big and in a way cheap but the green palm and text balanced it nicely. Made in USSR at the bottom just sealed the deal.
This watch was ordered by US company from a Soviet watch company Vostok (which still makes great watches) during the Gulf war in 1991. The dial also has Saudian coat of arms in green behind the US flag. This was a rare moment in history when the Soviet fought with the US on the same side in a war.
They continued making this watch later but the first batch was 10K pieces and the one I got is the first series. It has a serial number carved to the back of it.
I wore this daily for pretty long time. It’s my first vintage watch and still feels like the watch that has the best history.
